I shot the
header photograph near Haifa, Israel. The favicon comes from this drawing. Graphics for the site are edited in the GIMP.
On 7 April 2007 I redesigned the site. A screenshot of the first version is available.
The layout is controlled by HTML and CSS templates, which were created in a plain text editor. The design works in Firefox, and should work in most browsers.
Content is managed by Wordpress, with some modification and plugins, notably Markdown extra. Django looks like more fun, but lacking time and mod_python, I’m more or less satisfied with Wordpress.
Internet goodness—hosting, DNS, domain name—is by NearlyFreeSpeech.Net. Their technology includes FreeBSD and Apache.
Users of Internet Explorer may notice that the site does not look completely broken. Dean Edwards is to thank for his IE7 software.
